The piece above is a “color script”, apparently an extremely simplified illustrated storyboard that outlines the general color progression between scenes. I love that Pixar’s working materials are just as lovingly crafted as the films themselves — it says volumes about their work process. (via waxy)
In other news, I’m really getting used to the yearly recurrence of “let’s all appreciate Pixar” month. Let’s just go all out, make it a national holiday, and legally require them to release a new intricate, delightful bauble for us to ooh and ahh over every June. Everyone would get the day off from work, and the whole country would take a day to feel like children again, all of our mouths falling open in wonder together.
It’s a nice idea, isn’t it? Unfortunately, the President has more important matters to attend to. Sorry, guys — health care comes first.
