Allen Clapp and his Orchestra - Something Strange Happens
Found this little gem of an album digging through a box of CDs at my parents house. It reminded me of the early years of the decade, when I would order ten dollar CDs from Insound, listen unheard, just because the written description of them sounded like something I would like. And once I got those albums, I’d have to give them a serious chance, because I had nothing else to listen to. Sometimes it was a waste of money, but just as often it was an experience of serendipitous discovery, one that I think would be hard to replicate now that every album ever made is available instantly in perfect fidelity for free.
Or maybe it was just because I was seventeen years old. Listening to this song reminded me of that too. Go find a song you liked ten years ago but haven’t listened to since — and skip the MP3 collection. Go to the source: Your parents house. That’s one of the nice things about physical CDs and records — it enables you to lose songs, and find them again later.
